Pablo Mari, an Arsenal football player
Pablo Mari was hospitalized after being stabbed during an attack in a Milan retail mall that claimed one life. On Thursday, a man in the south of Milan, Italy, attacked five people, one of whom died, all while brandishing a knife.
A 46-year-old Italian man was detained by police on suspicion of carrying out the attack at a mall in the Milan district of Assago.
The news agency ANSA reported that a grocery employee passed away on the way to the hospital and that three other victims were in critical condition.
According to authorities, another person received shock treatment but was not hospitalised.
Police said the individual displayed symptoms of psychiatric instability, albeit they did not know why he carried out the attacks. There were no indicators of terrorism.
One of the injured was Spanish player Mari, who is playing for Italian Serie A team Monza on loan from Arsenal.
According to Adriano Galliano, CEO of Monza, “Pablo Mari sustained a very significant incision on his back that fortunately did not contact his important organs, such as the lungs or others.”
Since his life is not in danger, he can heal quickly. We anticipate his return soon.”Mari “looks to be OK,” according to Mikel Arteta, manager of Arsenal, who also confirmed the defender’s hospitalization.
Europa League
After Thursday’s Europa League loss against PSV Eindhoven by a score of 2-0, Arteta said, “I know (club technical director) Edu has been in touch with his relatives.”
“In a hospital, he is. He appears to be well. I shall immediately receive a briefing on what took place.”
In a club statement, Arsenal stated: “The horrific news of the stabbing in Italy, which has left many people hospitalised, including our center-back on loan Pablo Mari, has horrified us all.
“We have spoken to Pablo’s agent, who has informed us that the actor is hospitalized but not gravely harmed. Pablo and the other victims of this terrible act are in our thoughts.
